How we choose
A festival weekend and a January bothy walk-in need different kit. We list the packed weight, the packed size, the fabric and the season so the comparison takes a minute rather than an evening.
Categories, from shelter to lighting
Dry the tent fully before it goes back in the bag, refresh the water repellent finish once a season, and store the sleeping bag loose rather than compressed. It doubles the life of both.

Orders placed before 14:00 on a working day are packed the same day. Standard delivery is £4.95 and arrives in two to four working days; express is £8.95 for next working day. Orders over £120 ship free.
You may cancel within 14 days of delivery under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Gear must come back in a condition fit for resale — pitched once on dry grass is fine, a muddy fortnight on a hillside is not.

A two or three berth tent with at least a 3000 mm flysheet, a sleeping bag with a comfort rating of +5°C or lower, a mat with an R-value around 3, a head torch and something to cook on. That comes to roughly 7–9 kg carried between two people.
Comfort is the temperature at which most people sleep warm through the night. Limit is where you will survive the night curled up but not comfortably. Buy on the comfort figure and allow a few degrees of margin for a damp pitch.
It is the water column in millimetres a fabric holds before it leaks. 2000 mm copes with a summer shower, 3000 mm handles a British weekend, and 5000 mm is what you want for exposed or winter pitches.
Yes, within 14 days of delivery under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, provided it comes back in a condition fit for resale: clean, dry, complete and with its stuff sacks and pegs. Email us first and we will confirm the return address.
Dry the tent completely, even if you packed it wet, then store it loosely rather than compressed. Keep sleeping bags uncompressed in the large cotton sack so the fill stays lofted, and refresh the tent's water repellent finish once a season.
We deliver across the United Kingdom by courier. Highlands, islands and Northern Ireland can take one to two extra working days. We do not currently ship outside the UK.
